Advanced Analytical Mechanics

When Sputnik was launched (October 1957) I began giving lunchtime lectures (at North American) on orbital mechanics. The University of Southern California had a two-semester graduate course Advanced Analytical Mechanics 553 a, b within the Department of Aeronautical Engineering. The lecturer scheduled to give the course in September 1959 left unexpectedly and I stepped in. Ended up giving the course for three hours every Tuesday night for the next 13 years. Over time transitioned from Goldstein’s Classical Mechanics to my own notes that are posted below.
